Booking Through Winter 2026–27
Attic insulation goes in all winter. If your house is cold, frosting up or growing icicles right now, now is when to fix it.
Air Sealing · Attic Top-Ups · Ventilation · Crawl Spaces & Cold Floors
Most attics don’t fail because there isn’t enough insulation. They fail because warm, wet house air is leaking into them. We seal first, then blow it in — and we’re the same crew that works under Alberta houses every day, so crawl spaces don’t scare us.
Our own crew, no subcontractors, across Edmonton, Parkland County and the Lac Ste. Anne area.
New or topped-up blown insulation to a proper, even depth across the whole attic — including the corners and eaves most jobs leave thin.
Learn MoreThe part that decides whether insulation works. Leaks into the attic sealed, fans vented outside, soffits baffled so the attic can breathe.
Learn MoreFrost on the nails, wet spots on the ceiling in a thaw, icicles along the eaves. Symptoms of heat and moisture escaping — we fix the cause.
Learn MoreCold floors and frozen pipes over a crawl space. We insulate the walls and rim, not just stuff batts between the joists — and deal with moisture first.
Learn MoreThe rim joist is one of the biggest leaks in an Alberta basement or crawl space. Cut, fit and sealed so the draft and the frost both stop.
Learn MoreLake cabins on posts and blocks with ice-cold floors. Floor systems and skirting insulated so the cabin holds heat and the pipes survive.
Learn MoreInsulation slows heat down. It doesn’t stop air. Blow fresh insulation over an attic full of leaks and the warm, wet air keeps coming through it — and in a cold snap that moisture turns to frost on the roof deck, then drips through the ceiling in the next thaw. That’s why our order never changes:
We go into the attic before quoting. Top plates, pot lights, plumbing and chimney chases, the attic hatch, bath fans dumping into the attic — every place house air gets up there.
Gaps sealed with foam, caulk and blocking that’s rated for the spot. Fans ducted outside. Hatch weatherstripped and insulated. This is the work most quotes leave out.
Baffles at every soffit bay so the new insulation can’t block intake air. The attic stays cold and dry, which is exactly what you want in an Alberta winter.
Blown to a consistent depth across the whole attic, depth markers set so you can see it, and the eaves filled properly instead of left thin.
Most insulation crews avoid crawl spaces. Ours spends its working life in them — Homestead started as a foundation and crawl space repair company.
Wet soil under a crawl space ruins insulation. Ground vapour barrier goes down and gets sealed first, so the insulation stays dry and keeps working.
Fiberglass batts stapled between floor joists sag, fall and collect moisture. Where it suits the space, we insulate the perimeter walls and rim joist instead, so the whole crawl space stays above freezing.
The rim joist is where the cold and the drafts get in. Cut-and-sealed rigid foam closes it off properly.
Open vents and gappy skirting pull −30°C air straight under your floor. We close up what should be closed and insulate skirting on cabins and homes on posts.

Rot, sagging beams or water coming in? That gets fixed before anything is insulated — by our foundation crew.
Homestead Foundation RepairSomeone actually goes up into the attic or down into the crawl space. No quotes off a satellite photo and a square-footage guess.
Not an upsell. Insulating over leaks is how attics end up frosting, so we don't do it.
Cold snaps below −30°C, then a sudden thaw. We build attics and crawl spaces that handle both without frost, drips or frozen pipes.
You'll know what it costs before we start. No surprises, no change orders.
We started as a foundation and crawl space repair crew. Tight, damp, low-clearance spaces are normal working conditions.
Attics and crawl spaces can be done in the cold months. Book now rather than wait for spring.
